2022 Season Recap
It was an exciting year for me in the racing world in 2022! I took part in several top-level events and came away with some great results. I am particularly proud of my first-place win in the U23 24-Hour MTB National Championships and my third-place finish in the Noosa Enduro National Cup.
I started the year with the second instalment of my Tasmania Circumnavigation Project, picking up where we left off in Hobart before COVID. We made our way down to the Southernmost point of the state before turning around to finish off at Maydena. Keep your eyes out for the third and final part of our adventure.
To start the race season with the Shimano Grand Prix I put in strong performances, finishing fourth in Round 1 at Stromlo and seventh in Round 2 at Awaba. I missed the other Shimano GP rounds for a gravel adventure, the rainout of the doubleheader, and unfortunately also caught COVID-19 towards the end of the season.
I also competed in a number of National Championships, including the Noosa XCM Cup & Gravel Champs weekend where I took 3rd and 5th respectively, Wagga XCM Champs where I placed 4th, and the Jetblack 24h. I was also proud to compete in the CORC 24 Hour Continental Championships (Elite) and place 5th.
Along with these competitive races, I had a lot of fun at events like Thunderbolts Adventure, Dirty Detour, Newcastle Overnight, and MTB Club races. I also had the opportunity to fundraise and participate in the OXFAM Trailwalker with work colleagues.
It was my first season back racing after a break of over 5 years, and I am thrilled with how it went. It was a challenging journey getting back into the sport, but I am proud of the hard work and dedication that I put in to achieve my results. It was a true testament to my love for racing and my determination to get back to the level I once was. I am grateful for the support of my family, friends, and sponsors who encouraged me along the way and helped make my return to racing a success. I can't wait to see what the future holds and to continue pushing myself in this sport that I am so passionate about.
